New Year Motivation.... and NEWS!

Hello Ladies!!!

We are back after a couple of crazy weeks. It has been busy busy busy at Zadie B's. We have new items, we have rearranged our store, our owner has been traveling, and we are doing our best to get things in order for the new year. These may include a new website, organizing, new designs, organizing ... and did I say organizing??

Needless to say, I have been on a fresh-start-with-the-new-year organizing frenzy! I know a lot of people are scared of that word, but I am here to make it seem a little less scary with a few tips for you!! Check out these great ideas to make organizing quicker, easier, and ultimately make living more convenient for you and your family.

The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 14:40 "Let all things be done decently and in order." This is just the well known scripture that we can all quote, but the Bible mentions things being done in order, or the house being set in order, multiple times! Look it up! I believe that it is important to put things in order!

First things first: So you are the polar opposite of OCD and seem to have everything everywhere all the time? That's ok! You don't have to be perfect at this. Just take one tip at a time and work toward making one area more convenient and clean. I suggest picking an area that you use most frequently. Once you see how much quicker and easier it is to function with the area organized, you will quickly be motivated to do the next space.

Let's Get Started!

1: CLEAN OUT!

So this is the least fun, but it is necessary for this project to really work. If your space is over stuffed, it will be impossible to really organize it. Pull everything out of the space and figure out what really needs to be there.Make it quick by asking these questions as you go.

~ Is there anything wrong with this item (broken, expired, not usable)?

Yes, I know we all have good intentions about fixing things and using them, but we all know that rarely happens. Just throw it out or sell it!

~ Have I worn/used this in the past 6 months?

If not, throw it out. For expensive items, sale it. For food items, make plans to use them in your next meals or baking endeavors to get them out of the way.

~Is this really where this item belongs?

I have discovered that one of the keys to keeping things organized is to put things in places that are convenient to where you would use those items. If it is quick and easy to put something away as soon as you are done using it, you will usually put it back where it belongs more often than not.

2: CATEGORIZE!!

Now that you have only the items you need in your space in front of you, categorize them. Make stacks of each type of item so that you can figure out spacing in the area you are organizing.

3: MAKE A PLAN!!

If you are organizing a clothes, think about the best section of the closet to put the longer pieces, the shorter pieces, the most used pieces, etc. If you are organizing shelves, think through which shelves by size and convenience make the most sense for your piles. Larger shelves for larger stacks and lower eye level shelves for often used items.

4: CONTAIN!!

Things that can be put into containers should be CONTAINED! I promise this will make a HUGE difference in your organizational habits. Dollar Tree is the BOMB for containers. They have all colors, shapes, and sizes for just a buck! So get a sense of the things you need to contain, measure depth, width and height of your spacing, and get to the closest Dollar Tree! This time of year they typically have plenty of bins to go around.

5: ARRANGE!!

Now it's time to put it all back in. Be sure and wipe down any shelves or dawers, vacuum or sweep out the floor. Now arrange your items in your bins and place the bins where needed.

Check out these great tips on how to find organizing containers or use things you already have at home:

Shoe Caddy uses:

Cleaning Snacks Kid's small toys or supplies

The options for these things are endless so use your imagination!!

DIY lazy suzan:

All of these items are avialable at dollar tree. Pour the pack of marbles into one pan, top with the other pan nested inside the first, and give it a spin! VOILA!! It works like a charm. Great for organizing bottle of sauces, peanut butter/honey, canned goods, and hair product cans or bottles.

Dollar Tree Bins:

Here are a few of the bins I was talking about. The great thing is, if you don't like the colors they have, since you are getting the containers so cheap, just grab a can of spraypaint in whatever color you want and go to town on those bins!!! It works!

You will NOT REGRET doing this! It will give you a fresh start in the new year and get you motivated to move on to the next area.

I really hope you have enjoyed this blog as much as I have!!! Keep up with us on our facebook, instagram and our email subscription!!! We have some GREAT STUFF coming up!
